Toronto to offload Frei to incorporate Touray![]() Wednesday, November 30, 2011 Rumours linking Gambian international goalkeeper Pa Dembo Touray with a move to the Major League Soccer got even stronger this week after stories in the Canadian press claimed Toronto FC will offload current number one keeper Stefan Frei to incorporate the former Djurgarden and Real de Banjul man. Observer Sports reported on one of its last week editions that the 31-year-old is being sought by four MLS clubs. Interest in attracting Gambian players to the MLS is getting even stronger now as the country has produced some very good MLS players and the league has a good reputation here largely due to the Nyassi brothers (Sainey and Sanna) as well as Mamadou Futty Danso and Abdoulie Kenny Mansally who all play for the Senior Scorpions. It was first reported by the Swedish media and later picked up by the press in North America, the New York Red Bulls, Columbus Crew, Emmanuel Gomez and Amadou Sanyang’s former team Toronto FC and a fourth team were reported to be vying for the signature of Touray. But the report went further to reveal that the Gambian international who is still undecided on his international future with the Scorpions is in favour of going on training with an unnamed South African team believed to be Golden Arrows. And now this week, there are rumours suggesting that Stefan Frei could be heading to either the New York Red Bulls or even the Seattle Sounders. At least with Montreal now seemingly having 3 quality keepers on their books that rules out one possible destination. A deal involving Frei would then free TFC up to pursue another keeper which some people are suggesting could be Gambian Pa Dembo Touray. The MLS for certain know little about him but apparently he could follow other Gambian internationals to the MLS with several other clubs being interested.
