Toubabo's price tag scares Belgian club![]() Thursday, June 18, 2009 Belgian First Division club KV Kortrijk may be forced to drop their interest in Gambia and RAEC Mons utility midfielder, Mustapha Jarju, alias Toubabou, after Mons slapped a huge premium on their price asset. Mons were relegated from the premier tier of Belgian football at the end of the 2007/08 championship and the Gambian international has put the top clubs on alert after as he doesn't have any interest of playing in the lower division next season. And it is understood that KV Kortrijk, which already have another Gambian in their ranks in the person of striker Ebou Sawaneh, have made an official approach to Mons for the former Wallidan and Steve Biko player who is presently in the country for a short holiday. However, they were stunned by the price tag reportedly demanded by Mons. According to Gambia Sports Online, Kortrijk are very keen in 'Toubabo' and negotiations have already begun with club officials but President Joseph Allijns is reportedly demanding a fee which Kortrijk can't afford to match. But Kortrijk are not the only team interested in Jarju, who was Mons top scorer last season. It is understood that Russian Premier League Club FC Terek Grozny and Turkish giants Sivasspor are also keen on the utility player with an unnamed French club. Terek Grozny finished 10th on the 2008 Russian Premier League while Sivasspor finished second on the 2008/09 Turkish Super League season and will participate in the Third Round qualifying of the 2009/10 UEFA Champions League.
