Training for URR referees

In their effort to improve the standard of referring in the country, the Gambia Football Association in collaboration with  Africell, Regional Sports Committee and  office of the chairman of Basse Area Council will organise a week-long intermediate football referring course for the referees in Upper River Region (URR).

The training will take place from August 15 to August 20, 2009, at the Regional Education conference centre in Basse with the participation of 30 referees. The participants will, during the course, receive lectures on the qualities of a good referee, role and the principles of refereeing, the laws of the game and report writing during.

The five-day training will be directed by Messrs Bai Jobe and Jerreh Faye, retired FIFA referees and CAF referee  instructors. The second vice president of the Gambia Football Association Mr Omar Sompo Ceesay, who doubles as the chairman of Basse Area Council, will be among the dignitaries that will grace the opening ceremony.
