Africa » Gambia
Monday, July 06, 2009
The TRY Women Association last Saturday, June 4th, 2009, closed the oyster season due to the rainy season.

This was announced at a recent meeting organised by the TRY Women Association which is a combination of nine groups including the women at venture, Karmalo, Jeshwang, Ebo-town, Faji-Kunda, Lamin, Abuko, kunguneh and Mandinaring, held in Old Jeshwang. According to Fatou Janha, the president of the association, the meeting was meant to discuss the new season that is to start after the rainy season, the closure of this season and also the women's bank account.

She noted that they have planned to organise a capacity building training, which will be held in Senegal and encourage all oyster sellers to work hard. The TRY Women Association finally announced that there would be a big festival that will be held in the first week of December 2009, and that the opening of the next season will be in that same month.
