Tsunami in GAF, PoliceThursday, March 04, 2010 Ensa Badjie, the Inspector General of Police and five other officers of The Gambia Armed Forces have been dismissed from the Gambia Police Force and the Gambia Armed Forces respectively by the president of the Republic, a press release from the presidency revealed yesterday. The sacked top army officers are: Rear Admiral Sarjo Fofana, commander of the Navy, Col. Mam Matarr Secka, commander, Military Police, Major Kuluteh Manneh, Army Headquarters, Lt Famara Jasseh, Army Headquarters and Lt Colonel Abdoulie Jatta, Gambia National Guards. Meanwhile, the president has appointed Mr Yankuba Sonko, deputy Inspector General of Police as the new acting police boss, while Commissioner Famara Jallow has been reinstated and appointed as deputy Inspector General of Police. Also, Commodore Sillah Kujabi has been appointed as the acting Navy Commander while Lt Col. Kawsu Sanyang becomes commandant of the Gambia Armed Forces Training School. The release reads: The Office of the President hereby informs the general public that His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh and Commander-In-Chief of The Gambia Armed Forces has with effect from March 2nd, 2010, dismissed the following officers from the Gambia Armed Forces and the Gambia Police Force.
