The two diplomats who have been accredited by their respective goverments as ambassadors to The Gambia were each mounted a guard of honour by the personnel of the State Guards Batallion at the State House gate before being ushered in to present their letters of credential. First to  present his letter of credential to The Gambian leader was Ambassador Barrada of Morocco, who told waiting reporters of  his delight to have been received and accepted by President Jammeh as ambassador extra-ordinary and plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Morocco to the Republic of The Gambia. He revealed that President Jammeh had expressed his desire to work closely with the Kingdom of Morocco with a view to improving the economic cooperation between the two countries.

?The president is very happy about the existing cooperation between the two countries. We are going to work closely with the authorities of this country,? stated the new Moroccan diplomat.Ambassador Barrada  pointed out  that he has already identified key areas of cooperation, such as agriculture, health, fisheries, amongst others. ?I wish to seize this opportunity to thank His Excellency President Jammmeh for the efforts he made and continue to make in supporting the cause of Morocco,? he remarked.

The new Moroccan Ambassador to The Gambia also used the opportunity to commend the authorities of the country for the support they rendered to the Moroccan community, who he said have been residing in the country for a very long time. Palestinian ambassadorAmbassador Abdelrahim Alfara of the State of Palestine after presenting his crential to The Gambian leader,  told reporters that  he is grateful to  President Jammeh for receiving and accepting his credential. He said  The Gambia is one of the countries that stand for the Palestinian cause, expressing hope that the country will continue to help towards establishing their independent state. 

?The president is always willing to help the Palestinian state, especially his recent speech that he delivered at the 64th United Nations General Assembly in New York,? he stated, while indicating that the Gambia is one of the countries that signed the Goldstone Resolution against the crimes the Israelis had committed to the Palestinians in the Gaza strip. The new Palestinian diplomat to The Gambia also revealed to reporters that his discussion with the president also centered on the bilateral relations between the two countries. 

He indicated that one key area that his country can assist Gambia is engineering, which, he noted his country is endowed with. According to him, his discussion with the president would be put into consideration so as to bring Palestinian engineers, doctors, and farmers to the country to start up their various projects. Ambassador Alfara expressed his gratitude on behalf of his country to President Jammeh, his government and the people of The Gambia for their support to the Palestinians.
