Tuesday, November 18, 2008

Akiel Chinelo, an internationally renowned hip-hop reggae poet and writer based in Manchester, United Kingdom (UK), has described the Gambian arts and music industry as very lucrative and enviable, and as heading towards the right direction.

"I believe that the Gambian arts and music industry is on the right footing. The potential, talent, zeal and creativity are there," he said. The Manchester-based Jamaican was part of selected talented and creative artists to perform at the recently concluded musical jamboree organised by the African Commission on Human and peoples Right (ACHR).

The musical jamboree was held at the prestigious and glamorous Dream Park in Kololi. The event was of activities marking the African Human Rights Day, scheduled for the 21st day of October of every year.

According to Mr Chinelo, the Gambian artist musical industry is capable enough to register success in the world of arts and culture compared to any other country. He added that the arts and music industry required talent, zeal and creativity.

"There is no use of magic. It's all about the desire, zeal, passion, assertiveness and strong determination," he concluded.
