The Ukrainian President, Viktor Yushenko has felicitated the Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh on the occasion the 16th Anniversary of the July 22nd Revolution.

The message reads:
Throughout fine relations which have developed between our countries, and our people, I want to congratulate personally you and all Gambians with an anniversary of the day of Revolution on July, 22nd. And I wish development of relations between our countries, and strengthening of friendship and cooperation atmosphere our people.

As I want to express you the admiration of yours leader qualities, and professionalism, with what you operate the country, and to wish personally you, health, the further fulfillment, and an all-around development of your country.

I will congratulate you, with pleasure, personally through the period when, I together with the Ukrainian delagation will visit Gambia in the third decade of July.

In a similar development, several Gambian diplomats across the world, and Maria Munira Jaudi Ribeiro, the ambassador of the Republic of Guinea Bissau to The Gambia, also sent congratulatory messages to President Jammeh on the occasion of the 16th Anniversary of the July 22nd Revolution.

As we celebrate the 16th anniversary of the 1994, July 22nd Revolution, it gives me great pleasure and honour on behalf of the entire staff of The Gambia High Commission, Abuja, our families and on my own behalf and the entire Gambian community in Abuja, to convey to Your Excellency and family and the government and the entire Gambian people my heartfelt congratulations, best wishes and sincere greetings.

The Revolution of July 22nd 1994 has ushered in a new era in the annals of the history of The Gambia by bringing in an era characterised by massive socio-politico-economic and cultural advancement that The Gambia has hitherto not various positive development projects that characterized The Gambia's history over the last 16 years under Your Excellency's Visionary and Wise Leadership.

The Construction of the various roads and bridges, the University of the Gambia, schools, health facilities, the Satellite Television which put The Gambia on the world map, the development of the human resource base, etc just to name a few are clear testimony to the above.

We pray to Allah, the Almighty, to continue showering His infinite blessings on Your Excellency, Your Family, the government and the entire Gambian Nation and to also continue to guide and guard Your Excellency in your endeavors to develop The Gambia for the betterment of all Gambians and all those living in The Gambia.

A leader who can appreciate greatness is indeed a humble leader.

A leader who is always devoted to the love of Allah is indeed a righteous leader. Last but not the least, Your Excellency, you have not spurn Jesus and fail to satisfy Muhammed (SAW). That is why you are able to ensure religious tolerance in The Gambia Comrades, Fellow Gambians, you will agree with me that The Gambia is blessed by having the kind of leader and government and pray that is able to deliver what we expect from a Leadership and a Government.

May Allah continue to bless us to remember Him in each and every act and enable us to continue to strive to be Gambians to our motherland in our heart, work, morals, family and legislation. To also strive with the aim of pleasing to Allah, by living a religious life and believing in the necessity to work for The Gambia and that The Gambia has a future, "AMEN"  (herein lies the secret of our happiness, a spotlight in the darkness, a defending tongue in Justice and a ??? foot on the straight path).
