Ultimatum for debtors

Africa » Gambia
Monday, September 07, 2009
Principal Magistrate Olabujutu Kayode of the Bundung Magistrates Court has given the end of September 2009 as the deadline for two defendants, Marima Njie and Amie Secka, to settle the outstanding balance of five thousand and thirty dalasis (D5,030) owed to one Sainabou Saine Gabbidou of Banjul.

According to the particulars of the claim, the plaintiff bought a land located in Busumbala village from the defendants and paid them the sum of D240,000. However, it was revealed that the said plot of land actually belongs to the Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation, who took action by demolishing the structures built on the plot by the plaintiff. The matter was later adjourned to 30 September 2009.
