UTG braces up for Students' Week

Africa » Gambia
Wednesday, October 14, 2009
Considering the fact that the University of The Gambia is operating in the absence of a campus, students of the university have little or no chance of having a taste of what a campus life is.

For many people, the University of The Gambia cannot offer its sutdents the opportunity to feel the benefits of a campus life particulary with regards to a better understanding of the university culture until the Faraba Bantang campus is accomplished. Students of the University of The Gambia are however proving that wrong.  Each year the students, under the guidance of the students' union organise a 'Students' Week' so as to have a taste of a university campus. The occasion usually brings together students of the various departments of the university, lecturers and other stakeholders to learn and share ideas regarding issues confronting society.

In respect of this, students of the University of The Gambia are at an advance stage in their preparations for another Student's Week celebration, which is slated to kick off this evening at the FIFA Goal Project complex at New Yundum. According to the president of the students' union, Ansumana Darboe, this year's occasion will bring together different stakeholders and the university students to discuss matters that are of great concern to society. He revealed that debates, seminars, symposiums and a host of other activities would characterise the week's celebration.
