Friday, August 10, 2012

The University of The Gambia (UTG) Monday launched the Master of Science Degree Programme in Mathematical Modeling, the latest to be introduced by the nation’s citadel of learning, during a ceremony held at its Campus in Brikama.

The vice chancellor of the UTG, Professor Muhammadou M.O. Kah, who spoke at the occasion, expressed his delight over the introduction of the programme into the university curriculum. While underscoring that the programme is intense and needs the commitment of all stakeholders, Prof. Kah assured the students that the university will provide all what it takes to run the programme. He also assured that the quality of the programme will never be compromised at UTG.

Expressing similar sentiments, Professor Dr. Abdou Sene of the UTG described Mathematical Modeling as very important, and pledged the institution’s commitment to go ahead with the programme despite limited available resources. He said: “We can’t wait for the resources to be abundantly available, now is the right time.”

Other speakers at the ceremony included the acting dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Ebrima Lowe; andthe head of Natural Sciences, School of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Njie.
