UTG's credibilty on the rise Says Dr Jah junior

Thursday, August 26, 2010
[endif]Dr. Omar Jah, the vice chancellor in charge of Admin and Finance at the University of The Gambia has said that the University of The Gambia (UTG) has gained much credibility among Gambians and non-Gambians alike within and outside the country as a result of the achievements registered by the institution in the recent years.

He made these remarks during an exclusive interview with this reporter in his office at the University campus in Brikama. Dr. Jah explained that the UTG has a lot of applicants and they cannot offer all of them admission. He however expressed hope that theintegration processwhich is underway will solve the space demand as other tertiary institutions can offer space. Commenting on the prospect of UTG's achievements, Dr. Jah said the UTG is now 10 years old and has a high learning capacity.

In the beginning, he said they were facing so many challenges with only four faculties but that today they are talking about 7 to 8 faculties at the University. He said people now have confidence in the output of the instituttion as opposed to before when Gambians used to send their children for overseas studies. "Even Gambians in the diaspora are sending application to come back and join the University of The Gambia," he revealed. He spoke at length on their immediate plans to improve the standard of the University and all its departments..
