The members of the United Youth Association are preparing for their second youth conference and gathering.

Scheduled to start from the 3rd-7th April this year, the conferenc is expected to bring together 300 youths. This year's theme, according to the officials of the association, is "Sensitise youths against illegal migration". The program will commence with a march pass on Friday, 3rd April 2009 from the Africell Junction on Kairaba Avenue to the United Youth Association resource centre in the Bakau Newtown Community Centre, where  it will be officially opened.

In an interview with the Daily Observer, Musa Conteh, president of the association, said the annual youth conference is aimed at sensitising the youth about social problems. He added that every year, they dedicate the conference to a specific social problem affecting the growth and development of young people. This year's conference, he revealed is expected to be graced by the top government officials, youth activists, representatives of youth organisations, victims of illegal migration, development partners in youth development and empowerment, and other stakeholders.

According to Conteh, during the course of the conference, participants will be exposed to pertinent issues that are of concern to young people. The secretary general of the United Youth Association, Hatab Fadera, said this year's theme is centred on illegal migration, because of the threat posed by the phenomenon to the country's development.
