Wallidan end winless streak

africa » gambia
Sunday, March 15, 2009
Goals from Sainey Touray (Ballack), substitute Isaha Dem and skipper George Cole saw  champions Wallidan beat Division One first-timers Brikama United 3-1 to earn their first three points in seven matches.

After no win in six league matches, Wallidan knew they must start collecting the maximum points if they are to defend the title they won last year. And the Blue Boys proved that they were up to the task when former New York Red Bulls striker opened the scoring in the early minute with a low shot.

Brikama United waited until the 82nd minute before they can level the score through Ebou Cole, but their hopes of getting any valuable point in the tie were dashed in the dying minute when Isaha Dem and George Cole all struck to seal the matche at 3-1. Elsewhere on Saturday, Bakau United succumbed to their second successive defeat at the hands of Real de Banjul who beat them 2-1.
