africa » gambia
Tuesday, March 10, 2009
Momodou Lamin Sillah, the  play-maker of the Gambia First Division League giants Wallidan FC, is presently in France for a four-week trial with FC Metz, Observer Sports has reliably gathered.

The industrious midfielder-cum-prolific scorer, who is a regular with the Gambia Under 20 team, is reportedly delighting hearts in the European country, after only one week into his one-month trial. Sillah was in 2008 called up to bolstered the Scorpions front line, and he is still remembered for the fascinating goal he scored in Gambia's 2-1 win against Sierra Leone in an international friendly played in Banjul last year. The athletic forward was also a key member of the Wallidan squad that won both the League Cup and FA Cup titles last season.

FC Metz
Founded in 1932, FC Metz are one of the oldest professional football teams in France and have played in the French Ligue 1 for most of their history.
In 1998 the team competed in the qualifications to the Uefa Champions League but lost in the third round to Finnish team HJK Helsinki. The renowned club play their home matches at the stade Saint-Symphorien, which has a capacity of 26,700. The club also gained recognition in France and Europe for their successful youth academy, which produced star players including Rigobert Song, Robert Pirès, Louis Saha,  Emmanuel Adebayo and lot more.
