WCR thanks President Jammeh for Ramadan gift

Africa » Gambia
Thursday, August 11, 2011
The people of West Coast Region (WCR) through their governor, Alhaji Lamin Sanneh have expressed gratitude to the Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh for giving them 3000 bags of sugar in the holy month of Ramadan.

Speaking during the distribution of the gift to his people, Governor Sanneh said the generosity is a clear testimony of the concern President Jammeh has for Gambians. He further commented on the significance of the holy month, stressing that whatever assistance one gives to his or her fellow Muslims, Allah would reward the person for such good deeds.

He said that the gift, which is aimed at assisting the poor and needy, manifests President Jammeh’s interest in the welfare of all Gambians irrespective of tribe or political affiliation.

He commended and prayed for the Gambian leader for Almighty Allah to shower his blessings on him, his family, government and the entire population of The Gambia. He further urged Muslims to continue praying for the good health of the president and support him in his endeavours.

Alhaji Demba Sanyang, the paramount chief of The Gambia who spoke on behalf of the chiefs in the region, thanked President Jammeh for the gesture. He described him as someone who leads by example, adding that The Gambia is lucky to have such a leader.  He then reaffirmed their unflinching support to the president and the APRC.
