Whats On: Gambian star waxing stronger in UKFriday, May 22, 2009 Born and raised in the Pipeline neighbourhood, Gee Baby is another Gambian star working day in day out to drop his new album anytime soon. His career in music started way back in 1998 at his high school time, but the young star at the time did not take music seriously. His first song was recorded by the late MJ's (RIP) in 2004. He had earlier on released a track in the 90s. "I'm putting lots of emphasis on my work to represent where I'm from and make few other development in my career," he said. As he stands at the peak of his career , Gee has three successful albums under his belt. According to him, most people had the belief that creativity and talents are important. This according to him, is another motivating factor resulting to his breakthrough in his trade. "It's only the average individuals who wouldn't really make it when they cross boarders. They either fall back, or let us take over or put in more work. Everybody's got to a starting point but we don't want to hear one's new music sounding the same like when he started it. We want improvement and with the help of some few peoples back home in The Gambia we are working hard together to see that," he said. According to him, he is currently working on his third album entitled: ' Never too early' and got two other mix tapes beside it. "I had done it with one project (shout Gambia Vol.1) and I'm also working on a new mix tape to promote the album," he said. He therefore called on promoters and MC's to promote their stuffs so as to push their music to the next level. He further disclosed that without promoters, artists are nowhere. "At least we got to reach out to people on the same struggle as us. Basically, we are related with the promoters and I wish to call on them to work together and represent what's real. If we don't stand for Gambia who will..? " he asked. Gee has recently been to the US where he has been constantly busy in and out of studios doing what he does.
