Whats On: Olugander releases Sizzla duet

Thursday, February 05, 2009
One of The Gambia's top reggae musicians, Dr Olugander aka Omar Ndong, has released a hit single entitled "Struggling", a duet with the Jamaican reggae superstar, Sizzla Kalonji.

The song, Dr. Olugander reveals, "is a message centered on the struggles and tribulations that people face, especially young people. Young people all over the world face difficulties and sometimes major shortcomings, but keeping the faith and continuously working hard should never be compromised. The song is a masterpiece and when people listen to it, they will realise what I am talking about".

Gander further expressed his joy at working with a reggae legend. "Of course it's an honour and I am very proud to be associated with someone of Sizzla's calibre. A lot of other musicians can only dream of the possibility but I have realised it. Also, I believe he enjoyed working with me and he appreciated my energy and talent too," he said.  For his part, Valentine Banjakey, the Gander Productions Label manager said "Gander in the studio with Sizzla is great in itself.

He has worked with several other musicians but spitting out a tune with someone he has always admired and revered is just superb. He also learned a lot of things from Sizzla and that can only make him wiser and stronger than before. As we always say, we will set the trend in our country and others will follow but we will work extremely hard to make it to the very top of the tree". The four-minute long track has hit the airwaves already and will soon be in the record stores.

You have been told!
