Wins for Biko & Real A/Forces & Wallidan held

Wednesday, April 22, 2009
Real de Banjul and Steve Biko have all bounced back from their weekend's setbacks to collect the maximum points, while leaders Armed Forces and defending champions Wallidan all dropped points as the Gambia Football Association First Division League season enters its thirteenth week stage yesterday.

Steve Biko beat Tallinding United 1-0  at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai - courtesy of 79th minute strike from the Gambia U-17 striker Alasana Camara. The narrow victory sent the Bakau side back to the joint second of the league table with 18 points.

Real de Banjul also put their title challenge back on track after a 1-0 win over Bakau United at the Independence Stadium. The defeat, which was Bakau United's second successive, has relegated them to the mid-table with 17 points. Elsewhere on Sunday, Brikama United came from behind to hold Wallidan to a 1-1 draw at the Brikama Box Bar mini-stadium, while Africell also forced a goalless draw with Armed Forces at the Serrekunda East mini-stadium.

Week Thirteen fixtures resume today with second-place Gamtel taking on  Sea View in Brikama, while Samger battle it out with Hawks at the Manjai Kunda mini-stadium.
