Africa » Gambia
Tuesday, February 07, 2012

Wisdom Nursery School in Serekunda recently benefited from some learning materials; such as books, pens, pencils, rulers, sharpeners, among others, from the parents and students of De Dubbetlbury School at Valkenburg Town in The Netherlands.

The assistance come through the support of Julanda Donley, who was on a visit to The Gambia and met with the administration of Wisdom Nursery School, thereby established a bilateral relationship with the school.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the school, Deacon Emmanuel Omorodion, the headmaster of the school, thanked the Almighty for the wonderful chance given to them, while underscoring the importance of the gesture. He described the donation as timely and noted that it will go a long way in complementing government’s efforts in enhancing quality education.

The headmaster also commended the donors for their humanitarian gesture and assured them that the items will be put into good use.

For her part, Julanda Donley applauded the administration of the school for their hospitality. A former teacher at De Dubbetlbury School in Holland, Donley said as a teacher, education is among her top priorities, thus helping pupils is relevant in this aspect. She promised to look into the constraints and challenges that the school is facing, and to find ways of helping them.
