Woman delivers triplets at Bansang Hospital

Kadijatou Jallow, a 30-year-old woman from Sare Jabel village in the Upper Fulladu District, Central River Region south, on Friday December 18 2009, gave birth to triplets at the Bansang Hospital.

In an interview with the Daily Observer, Arfang Faye, a nurse at the hospital, who also doubles as a lecturer at the State Enrolled Nurse (SEN) School in Bansang, thanked God for registering success in the delivery of the triplets. He disclosed that the babies are two females and one male, adding that the male baby weighs 2.6, while the first and second female babies weigh 2.3 and 2.2 kg respectively. “The mother and the babies are all in good health condition,” he enthused.

For his part, Wandifa Samateh, the principal nursing officer at Bansang Hospital, appealed to the government, NGOs, philanthropists and the general public to assist Kadijatou Jallow to take care of her babies. He commended the staff of the maternity ward for their hardwork and dedication, particularly Arfang Faye.  

Kadijatou Jallow, mother of the triplets, thanked Allah for blessing her with three babies at one go. According to her, this is her fifth pregnancy and all her children are alive. She however, stated that her husband, Mamodou Jang Jallow, is a farmer and cannot afford to take care of their babies. She then appealed for help to enable them take care of the babies. Abdou Karim Jallow, officer in charge of the maternity ward also expressed similar sentiments. Any person willing to assist can contact 9957315/6459415.
