Farid Bensouda, the proprietor of Coco Ocean Resort & Spa in Bijilo, was on Monday flown to Germany for medical treatment, following the attack on him Saturday night at his residence in Kerr Serign, the Daily Observer has learnt.

According to our source, the suspects, Muhammed Carew, a former employee of the Resort and Modou Jaw, a resident of Sanchaba Sulay Jobe, who ‘attempted to kill’ Bensouda, beat him seriously, during which he sustained serious injuries on his head and other parts of his body. It is alleged that the assailants used knives and other dangerous metallic objects during the attack.

The source further disclosed that the suspects left Bensouda in a pool of blood and ran away with his mobile phone which they were using to call their girlfriends. “The police acted upon this mark of identification and were able to trace the numbers they were calling from Bensouda’s mobile phone and they were eventually led to the homes of the suspects which led to their arrest,” the source disclosed.

This paper also learnt that the police did very well to trace the suspects and it took them nearly 46 hours from the time of the incident to get the culprits. Meanwhile, the suspects have been charged with conspiracy, attempted murder and robbery, contrary to the Laws of The Gambia.
