YMCA disburses D167,066 to young entrepreneursFriday, August 07, 2009 The Gambia National Council of Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) last Tuesday made a loan disbursement of one hundred and sixty-seven thousand, sixty-six dalasis (D167,066) to four young entrepreneurs at a ceremony held at the various places of the beneficiaries. The beneficiaries included Isatou K Jaiteh, Mariama Colley, Baba Kinteh, and Elizabeth Mendy, and Mam Jarra Tunkara. Joseph Peacock, project coordinator, YMCA, speaking at the YMCA office along the MDI road in Kanifing, said the loans were funded by the BLF UK through Y'care International. According to him, the project is aimed at equipping Gambian youths with vocational skills as well at to promote enterprise development and support maginalised and disadvantaged young people in The Gambia. Speaking at her shop in Kanifing Estate, Aminata Camara, a beneficiary, commended YMCA for giving her such a handsome loan.
