YMCA inaugurates IT Centre

Africa » Gambia
Tuesday, May 15, 2012

The Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) recently inaugurated its Information Technology Centre at a ceremony held at the YMCA ground in Kanifing. The centre would be offering courses such as multi-media, web authoring, film and video editing, single module software application, computer literacy and information technology, programming, sound and music production.

Speaking at the occasion, Adriana Garay, the studio manager said that the occasion is to improve visibility of the course they are offering at the YMCA Gambia office. He informed that they also created a website and their target is to train Gambians on how to create a website.

For his part, Poncelet Ileleji, the coordinator stated that their aim is to have a graduation in every five years. He advised the students to make YMCA their best institution, as YMCA is an organisation that empowers young people in terms of information communication and technology.

He disclosed that since 1999 YMCA has been offering different trainings in various fields for the young people and as a result, they expect the young people to use more information and communication technology to improve themselves. “Young people should use IT as a platform to improve their skills,” he concluded.
