Editorial,

A series of development projects are being implemented as part of activities putting The Gambia on the path of success.  This is not the first time that we are witnessing such actions on the part of the government. Over the past fifteen years, The Gambia has been home to a series of development.

Yet despite the numerous developments, the revolutionary leadership continues to be displace with the behaviour of some elements of our society - the youths. We, therefore, want to reiterate the call of the president, whose ambition, it is apparently clear, is to salvage the youths of this country from the ills of poverty.

Our youths have to understand that they are the back one of this nation.  The work that we do today is the story that will remain.  All the efforts of the president and the numerous developments that he is bringing to our doorsteps are for the benefit of our youthful populace.  The country's economy is stable and growing at a steady rate; there is adequate supply of water and electricity, there is a highly improved road network; just to mention a few. If the youths of this country take advantage of all these established infrastructure and make maximum use of them, there will be great room for improvement.

Venturing into petty business, learning a trade, and most importantly, responding to the president's back to the land call are all gateways for personal as well as national development. The countries people earmark for greener pastures did not fold their hands to be where they are today.  It was there citizens, in combination with their governments, that worked together to produce the type of society that they are enjoying today.  It is therefore incumbent upon each and every one of us as Gambians, regardless of political affliction to stand up for our responsibilities, and complement the efforts of the government in producing an advanced society.

The revolutionary leadership has opened and is still opening more doors that make it possible for the people of this country, youths in particular to harness and utilize their potentials. Let take ownership of our development process. Gambian youths arise; the future belongs to those who plan for it today.
