Yundum 'thieves' arrested

Reliable information reaching the Daily Observer has revealed that three youths, who are suspected of involving in the stealing of a sheep in New Yundum New-site, were arrested over the weekend.

The suspects, our sources added, are currently detained at the Banjulunding Police Station. Pa Modou Sanyang, Modou Mboob and Pa Darboe, all residents of New Yundum, were said to have been arrested after they were reported to the Banjulunding Police Station on suspicion, when the sheep got disappeared from where it was tied. The three are reported to have boarded a private vehicle, whose registration number was not identified.

According to sources, when they (the suspects) were arrested, they confessed to the investigation panel at the Banjulunding Police that when they loosed the sheep from where it was tied, they went with it straight to Brikama through Makumbaya. The theft was reported to have occurred between the hours of 2:30 towards 3:00 pm, during the weekend.

Ousman Drammeh, son of the owner of the stolen sheep, confirmed to our reporters that his father's sheep was stolen and that the suspects are arrested and detained at the Banjulunding Police station. According to him, this is not the first time his sheep are stolen. These reporters, when they visited the said station where the suspects were detained, the senior police officers on duty confirmed the arrest of the three, but added that they are granted bail.  However, these reporters were further informed that investigations are still ongoing. Superintendent Sulayman Secka, the public relations officer of the Gambia Police Force confirmed the story but gave no further comments.
