Boost for Bakau youth team

Tuesday, March 04, 2008
Wasulung Kunda FC, a junior football team in Bakau on Sunday, February 24, received football equipment from a third division club Go-Ahead FC in Holland.

The donated items which included football boots, bags, track suits and balls, were presented to the Wasulung Kunda team by Henk and Johanna, who are currently in the country for a week-long holiday.

The dutch couple on behalf of the Netherlands club promised more assistance in the future in their bid to contribute their quota to the development of youth football in The Gambia.

The facilitator, Badou Conateh, said the partnership between the two clubs started years back - thanks to the kind assistance of the Kombo Beach Hotel manager, Marcel Hendhrick, whom he described as true philanthropist.

Conateh, a veteran footballer, said the Netherlands club have a lot of plans for Gambian football and urged the two clubs to further cement their tie.
