SOS Children's Village, on Tuesday, received food items from the Indonesian Embassy in Dakar at a presentation ceremony held at the SOS Children's Village ground in Bakoteh.

Receiving the items, Mr Emanuel Mendy, assistant village director, explained that the school was established in 1986 with 6 family houses and they got children through the police as well as abandoned children and orphans and children from war countries. He added that now the family houses have increased to 10 and they are have 106 children in the village between the ages of 1-14 years.

He, on behalf of the village, expressed delight at the gesture. "We hope to receive you in the near future and we are very much grateful," he concluded.

Arifi Saiman, charge d'affairs of the Indonesian Embassy in Dakar, said that they are here to participate in the trade fair and to give donations to the kids especially those without parents in the SOS children village.

According to him, they did the same thing in Dakar and they will like to continue giving support to children in the Gambia as well.

The donated items included, noodles, rice, sugar and oil.
