Jole Rider Foundation, The Gambia and the Abbey Field Secondary School in UK, last Sunday, held the second anniversary of their annual bicycle ride for sixteen partner secondary and upper basic schools, at Brikama, Western Region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Kebba K Barrow, secretary general of Jole Rider Gambia Foundation said that the bicycle ride marks their second anniversary since establishment in 2006. According to him, the foundation seeks to help students to have access to education. He noted that over one hundred and fifty students from the rural areas across the country took part in the ride.

He added that after the ride, the bicycles will be used by students who travel from far places to and from school and will be returned after their graduation.

Mr Ceesay further asserted that the key aim of the foundation is to provide linkage between Gambian schools and schools abroad.

Mr Ceesay then thanked the Gambia government and the Department of State of Basic and Secondary Education for their unflinching support to Gambian Students.

David Hawham, director of Jole Rider Foundation in the UK said that the bicycles will ease the burden on students who travel for kilometres to school. He assured them of his foundation's aim to help Gambian students have access to education.

He then urged the staff and students of the participating schools to take care of the bicycles so that students coming after them can also benefit from it.

Mr Ampro Koroma, principal, Mahad Senior Secondary School commended their UK counterparts, assuring them that the bicycles will be taken care of.
