Total Gambia inaugurates new Head Office

Total Gambia Ltd on Friday 5th October 2007, officially opened its new Head office, located at 74 Alantic Road Fajara. Delivering a statement at the inauguration ceremony, Momodou kotu Cham, Secretary of State for the Department of State for Environment and Natural Resources, who deputised for the Vice-President Ajaratou Njie Saidy, gave a brief historical background of Total Gambia Ltd, noting that "we reflect on a company with a long and successful tenure in The Gambia." He added that in 1992, "BP assets were acquired by Elf Oil, and subsequently by Total in the 2001 global merger of Total and Elf Oil." SoS Cham highlighted that Total-Gambia Ltd has become one of the country's leading commercial houses, by increasing its network of service stations nationwide, building an aviation storehouse at Banjul International Airport, provision of cusumer clients with fuel and lubricants facilities at their sites, and many more development projects. Jean-Denis Royere, Vice-President for West African and Chairman of Total-Gambia Ltd indicated that Total-Gambia Ltd, is under Total West Africa, which is also part of Total African and Middle East. He also indicated that the group is operating in the Refining and Marketing Division of Total SA, with its Corporate Head Office in Paris, France. He added that "Total is the first "Major" in African. As demonstrated by everyday investment and achievements, our belief is to constantly establish and actively participate in the development of the countries in which we operate." Albert Roger Boum, Managing Director of Total-Gambia Ltd, said the new Head Office symbolises the image of Total in The Gambia, a company that progresses within it environment, and that has become part of The Gambia's landscape. The ceremony was attended by high-profile doplomats and religious leaders.
