Nusrat holds inter school Qu'ranic competition

Nusrat Senior Secondary School , last Saturday held its 13 Edition of Inter-school Annual Qu'ranic Recitation and Competition, at a ceremony held at the school ground, Bundung.

  Eight Senior Schools,   namely Sheikh Mass Kah Senior, Kotu Senior Secondary School, Masroor Senior Secondary School, Nusrat Senior, Gambia Senior School, Daddy Jobe Senior, Muslim Senior Secondary School and Sifoe Senior Secondary School, took part in this year's event.

Amadou S Jallow of Gambia Senior Secondary School emerged first the position, with 156 points, followed by Aisha Gaye of Daddy Jobe Senior Secondary School with 150 points, while Muhammed Al-Hassan Trawalleh of Kotu Senior Secondary, got third position with 149 points.

However, Kotu Senior Secondary School secured the team award with 296 points.

In his welcoming address, Ebrima Kah, Head of Islamic Studies Department at Nusrat Senior Secondary School , said the event is an annual programme that aims to inculcate religious knowledge and Islamic discipline into   the students.

  The competition, is also meant to encourage students to be able to read and understand the Qu'ran.

He commended the management and staff of Nusrat for sponsoring the event.
