Former Gamtel MD's case adjourned again

africa » gambia » banjul
Sunday, November 11, 2007

The criminal case involving the former Managing Director of The Gambia Telecommunication Company (GAMTEL) could not proceed before Principal Magistrate B Y Camera of the Banjul Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, due to the absence of the Prosecuting Officer ASP Bojang.

When the case was called, Corporal Sanyang who held brief for ASP Bojang informed the court that the Prosecuting Officer in the case was engaged at the Kanifing Magistrates' Court. He urged the court to give him one more opportunity .

Sheriff Tambedou, Counsel for the accused urged the court to rely on his no case submission and discharge his client, if the prosecution is not ready to proceed with their case.  He noted that the liberty of his client is at stake and he has to know his fate.

Principal Magistrate Camara subsequently adjourned the case to November 22, 2007, to give the Prosecution one more opportunity to reply to the no case submission made by the defence.
