Dr Chang presents medicament worth US$20,000 to DoSH

The Taiwanese Ambassador, Dr Patrick Chang handed over medicament worth $20,000 to the Department of State for Health and Social Welfare at a ceremony held at the Quadrangle, Banjul.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Ambassador  Chang expressed delight in handing over the consignment of items to the Department of State for Health and Social Welfare.  According to him, the medicament are to be used in Farafenni by the two teams of medics from the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF), currently at the Sulayman Junkung Hospital, Bwiam, to provide free medical services to the Gambian community.  Ambassador Chang finally concluded by thanking the Gambian leader, his Excellency, President Dr Alhaji Yahya Jammeh for making health his priority.  Receiving the medical items, on behalf of the government, Dr Malick Njie, SoS for Health and Social Welfare thanked the people of Taiwan through Dr Chang for their numerous assistance to the people of The Gambia. SoS Njie further stated that the medical mobile team which is curently in the country will ease the demand in providing medical services to the community.  He said the remains of the medicine will be left by the team in the
country after their weeks of humanitarian gesture to the communities. He finally seized the opportunity on behalf of the President and beneficiaries to commend the ICDF team for their support in complementing government's effort for the community to have access to medical facilities.  The ceremony was chaired by Mrs Markieu Janneh Kaira, acting chief pharmacist, National Pharmaceutical Service.
