Tuesday, February 26, 2008
The Join Hands Youth Association (JHYA) in UK, recently paid a courtesy call on the Vice-President Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy at State House, Banjul.

The purpose of the visit was meant to brief the vice-president on the association's plans and undertakings, as they set to participate in the national development process.

The association was formed by Gambians based in UK, with the aim of initiating a project that will help students and families.

Marie Madlane Gomez, the project director of JHYA, informed journalists that they are currently running a nursery school project in Tawuto Village in Kombo North District, Western Region. She said the project will be expanded later to a community development project, which will incur at least D5 million.

Ms Gomez thanked the vice-president for accepting their request for patronage, and commended George Gomez and Adama Cham, the NAM for Kombo North District, for helping her in idenfying Tawuto Village as the first beneficiary.

She expressed pride to be a Gambian, saying that her purpose of going to Europe is to eventually return home to help the people.
