Fresh charge for an Italian

Tuesday, March 11, 2008
Dominico Fedeli, an Italian national who is currently facing charges of theft involving a vehicle, was yesterday slammed with a fresh criminal charge of being in possession of unlicensed vehicle contrary to the Motor Vehicle Traffic Act and Criminal Code Cap 10 volume 111 Laws of The Gambia.

Domineco Fedeli is facing a theft charge, alongside two security officers (Manlafi Sanyang and Bakary Camara ) and Modou Lamin Sonko, the proprietor and managing director of Boto Construction Company.

According to the prosecution, on 19th February 2008 in the city of Banjul and other diverse places in the Republic of The Gambia, Mr Domineco Fedeli was found driving a vehicle with registration number BJL 4063B without a valid licence.

Mr Fedeli pleaded not guilty to the charge and informed the court that he had engaged the services of a lawyer.

The presiding magistrate, Imelda Mboto, at that juncture, granted the accused a court bail in the sum of D10,000.

As part of the bail condition, the accused should also have a surety who must be a responsible Gambian national with a proof of property and a clear address for identification purposes.
