Fatoumatta Jahumpa-Ceesay, the speaker of the National Assembly has told members of the Farafenni Civil Servants Association (FCSA) to be loyal to the country and her leadership in order to "safeguard the integrity" of the state.

Speaker Jahumpa-Ceesay made this remark on Thursday, during a courtesy call paid on her by members of FCSA at the National Assembly chambers, Banjul. The association also honoured Hon Tina Faal, nominated member of the National Assembly, Hon Bintanding Jarju, NAM for Foni Berefet, and Hon Haddy Nyang Jagne, NAM for Jeswang as sisters of the association.

The speaker was overwhelmed with the trust and confidence bestowed on her by FCSA members, who adopted her as their mother. She endorsed the honour and expressed her willingness to work with them.

"You travelled all the way from Farafenni to Banjul to adopt me as the mother of the association is a worthwhile move," said the speaker.

FJC could then paid tribute to President Jammeh, whom she described as her role model. "You are able to know me, because of President Jammeh. He is the one besides the Almighty Allah, made me what I am today. I therefore, thank him and pray for him to achieve his vision," she said.

On the security of a nation, Speaker Jahumpa-Ceesay said civil servants should be loyal and safeguard the territorial integrity of their country.

"Let us love each other. Solidarity. Be faithful and loyal to ourselves anywhere we work," she stressed.

Hon Jahumpa-Ceesay urged members of the association to engage in the civic education programmes, as well as agriculture.

She finally told her "sons" and "daughters" that she cannot be a mother to any association that does not support President Jammeh.

In his introductory remarks, Demba Sambou, the chairman of FCSA, said the association was jointly formed by civil servants and the security personnel in Farafenni, conscious about the problems and challenges faced by them. Mr Sambou said the association's membership comprises government staff, NGOs staff, police, soldiers and other sister security services such as Immigration, Customs, amongst others.

According to Chairman Sambou, the association seeks to foster unity and cooperation among different institutions and departments in Farafenni, initiate development programmes and projects, and also serve as the entry point for all external development and interventions geared towards complementing government programmes and the Millennium Development Goals.

The three female NAMs who were honoured as sisters of the association, pledged support to the association. They assured FCSA members that they have taken the right move in choosing FJC as their mother.

In a similar engagement, FCSA members had an audience with the managing director of Gamstar Insurance Company, Bai Ndongo Faal and the mayor of the KMC, Yankuba Colley.

The association, on Saturday, embarked on a massive cleansing exercise at the AFPRC Hospital in Farafenni, as part of their community intervention activities.
