Bakary Bojang, a police detective attached to the Serious Crime Unit at the Police Head Quarters in Banjul yesterday, gave his evidence in chief before Senior Magistrate Kayode Olajubutu of the Banjul Magistrates' Court in the ongoing government car theft involving Manlafi Sanyang, Lieutenant Bakary Camara and Dominico Fedeli, an Italian national.

In his evidence before the court, the police detective recalled that on the 21st January 2008 whilst in his office, he received a phone call from his Commanding Officer, ASP Ebrima Jammeh who told him to get prepare for an investigation at Brufut in Kombo North.

According to him, he went together with his Commanding Officer, but they could not trace the 3rd accused person's house, Dominico Fedeli. "He was called to come out on the high way so as to easily trace him.

We later trace his house and went inside and introduce ourselves to him and the mission why we where there. The accused was then taken to the Police Head Quarters where he said, the said vehicle with registration number BJL 4063B was given to him by Lieutenant Bakary Camara as a gift.

At the Police HQ, Fedeli later produced a transfer of ownership document of the vehicle which he said was processed by Manlafi Sanyang.

Police detective Bojang added "Dominico Fedeli said that, Lieutenant Bakary Camara accompanied him to process the transfer of ownership document at the police license department in Banjul".

He then stated that Dominico Fedeli was then cautioned and his statement was recorded in the presence of an independent witness.
