Theft at Kafuta forest park

Lamin Manneh and Buba Saidy, natives of Kufuta village  in Kombo East District, were on Monday arrainged before Magistrate Ayoub John Njie of the Brikama Magistrates' court, charged for conspiracy to commit felony and stealing, contrary to the laws of The Gambia.

According to the charges, the duo were said to have connived to commit felony at kafuta forest park.

The accused persons on the same day also connived and stole Two beds, valued at D2,700 and two chairs, valued at D1500.

According to the prosecutor, the duo also stole three tables, valued at D3000 as well as four benches, valued at D800.

When the charges were read to the accused persons, the duo pleaded guilty. How ever, the first accused person, Lamin Manneh, later changed his plea, objecting to the charges preferred against him. According to him, he stole only one bench. He further informed the court that he did not conspire with Buba, his co-accused to steal.

Presiding Magistrate Njie then adjourned the case to today for hearing to continue.

Police prosecutor 953 Jammeh represented the Inspector General of Police in the case.
