africa » gambia » bundung
Thursday, December 06, 2007

George Macauley, a Sierra Leonean national, was, on Monday, charged at the Bundung Magistrates Court presided over by Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara, on two counts of assault and failing to secure a European visa for one Bubacarr Singhateh.

According to the particulars of the offense, on or about August 23, 2007, at Faji Kunda in the Kanifing Municipality, George Macauley obtained from one Bubacarr Singhateh the sum of 100 Euros - equivalent to D2500 on the pretext of securing him a European visa when he knew such representation was false.

Count two stated that on August 23, 2007, at Faji Kunda in the Kanifing Municipal Council, George Macauley unlawfully assaulted Bubacarr Singhateh.

Asked to make his plea, George Macauley informed the court that he would like to take on the services of a counsel before making his plea.

At that juncture, Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara adjourned the case to December 17 to allow him to obtain the services of a lawyer.
