Guinean charged with manslaughter

Satafa Marra, a Guinean national was, on Wednesday, charged with manslaugter contrary to Section 186 of the Criminal Code, laws of The Gambia before Senior Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara of the Bundung Magistrates' Court.

According to the facts before the court, Satafa Marra on the 20th of December 2007, at Wellinghara, Kombo North, Western Region, did unlawfully cause the death of one Abdoulie Ceesay, by stabbing him with a knife on the neck.

When the charge was read to him, he pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Sillah-Camara in her ruling, stated that the court would write to the Master of the High Court to provide the accused, Satafa Marra, with legal aid. She then remanded the accused to the State Central Prison and adjourned the case to Tuesday 29 July 2008.

Corporal 438 Njie stood in for the IGP.
