Abdoulie Jallow, chairman of the Ebo Town Water Tank Committee, was arrested last Tuesday by personnel of the Gambia Police Force and detained at the Tallinding Police Station, Daily Observer can reveal.
According to impeccable sources, Mr Jallow is alleged to have stolen three water tanks donated to the Ebo Town flood victims during the rainy season by Unicef.
Ou
r sources further added that Mr Jallow allegedly sold the three water tanks to the general manager of A-Z Supermarket along Kairaba Avenue.
A full-scale investigation into the theft by this reporter also revealed that two of the tanks were alleged to have been collected from one Ebrima Jallow's compound in Ebo Town Sanchaba and the third tank was allegedly recovered from the compound of Sarjo Jawara in Ebo Town Badala.
"Abdoulie Jallow left for Dakar on Friday November 23  in the afternoon, after he had allegedly sold the watertanks. Upon his return on Tuesday, November 27,  in the morning, he was arrested by the Police at Tallinding," sources added.
Contacted on the veracity of the story,  Police Spokesman Inspector Sulayman Secka confirmed the story, adding that the matter will soon be lodged with the competent jurisdiction for prosecution.
Mr
