Hagley Primary School in the UK last Monday donated educational, sporting and learning materials to the Methodist Nursery and Lower Basic Schools in Janjangbureh, Central River Region.

The donation of the items, worth over forty thousand dalasis, was aimed at strengthening the already existing ties between the two schools. Addressing the beneficiaries at the presentation ceremony, the regional director of schools, Babucarr Suwareh, hailed the donors for the wonderful gesture. He called on both parents and teachers to participate fully in the management of the school and also to monitor the performance, discipline and punctuality of their children. According to him, without the active participation of all stakeholders, quality education will never be achieved.

For his part, Bakary Jam Jawo, the chief of Janjangbureh District,  thanked the donors for their assistance. He noted that the donated items will go a long way in contributing to the quality of education in the area. He called on the beneficiaries to put the items to  good use.

Receiving the items, the head teacher of the school, Alhagie Bojang, expressed delight, adding that the gesture will greatly help the school. He commended Tida Manka, the pioneer of the link which has been existing for over eight years. Other speakers at the occasion included Jatto Foon, chairman of the SMT, and the ward councilor, Ebrima Foon.
