Danish NGO donates to 18 institutionsWednesday, October 31, 2007 St George's Guild-The Gambia, a Non-Governmental Organisation based in Denmark, in collaboration with the Gambia Boden Powel International Scouts/Guilds Fellowship, on Friday donated various items to 18 different institutions in the country, at a ceremony held at the Serrekunda General Hospital in Kanifing.
The donated items included educational, health, agricultural, sports, and scouts materials.
He said the assistance is geared towards complementing government's effort in providing quality life, as the government alone cannot do it.
He then informed the gathering that the organisation has established schools in Jarra Soma, Lower River Region and Sanyang village in Kombo South, Western Region.
Ousman Semega Jagne, Secretary-General of the Gambia Boden Powel International Scouts/Guilds Fellowship, also urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the donated items, saying that the elderly scouts in Denmark have demonstrated a lot of commitment in the realisation of their objectives.
Receiving the items, on behalf of the beneficiaries, Hon Sheriff Abba Sanyang, National Assembly Member for Foni Kansala, commended the donors for the gesture.
