The Gambia Red Cross Society (GRCS) on Friday received a 40-feet container loaded with used clothes and household valuables, donated by the Danish Gambian Friendship Society (DGFS), at the GRCS Headquarters, Kanifing.

Receiving the items, Katim Nget, programme manager of GRCS, said DGFS has been in partnership with the GRCS for the past three years, to support its charity work.

Mr Touray thanked DGFS for the donated items, saying that the gesture will go a long way in alleviating the burden on vulnerable members of society, especially refugees and victims of natural disasters.

The GRCS programme manager assured the donors that the items will reach the right beneficiaries.

Ousman Dampha, representative of DGFS, said he has been receiving containers, which are distributed to hospitals, clinics, schools and to social welfare ventures.

"DGFS is a friend to The Gambia and we are always willing to give support to the socio-economic development of the country," Mr Dampha said.

He appealed to the beneficiaries to put the items into good use.
