Two convicted for stealing

africa » gambia » kanifing
Friday, December 07, 2007
Adama Manneh and Abouline Jallow, both employees of ESCAPAG company in Kanifing, were recently convicted for stealing 10 wheelbarrows belonging to the said company.

Appearing before the Kanifing Magistrate's Court, the two accused persons pleaded guilty to the charges levelled against them by the prosecution.

Handing down his judgment, Magistrate Mbackeh pointed out that there are thousands of Gambians who did not have the chance they hac, but they have failed to make best use of that chance. Subsequently the two culprits were fined D1,000 each, in default to serve three months imprisonment.

Meanwhile, Gibril Jallow, the third accused person, who is  still at large, was sentenced to two years imprisonment without any option of a fine. The court recommended that if caught, he should be deported to his native country - Guinea Conakery - after serving his sentence. Sgt Touray represented the IGP at the trial.
