Wednesday, March 05, 2008

The Gambia Cellular Company (Gamcel), has recently donated football equipment to the Kombo South Sport Committee, at a presentation ceremony held at the company's headquarters along Mamadi Manjang highway in Kanifing.

The donated items include two sets of jerseys, two trophies, two mobile phones, 100 Gamcel sim cards, four fabric banners and 200T-shirts.

Presenting the items on behalf of the company's management, Almamy Kassama, the director of Customer Service, expressed his company's strong resolve and commitment towards the development of grassroot football. He said the gesture is the fulfilment of Gamcel's social responsibility to the society.

He said the cellular company has been, since its inception in 2001, contributing to the country's sport sector, citing their contribution to the 'Road to Peru' and Operation Canada Campaign as a testimony.

Receiving the items, Buba Bojang, chairman of Kombo Sports Committee, expressed gratitude to Gamcel management for its magnanimity.

He said the gesture could not have come at a better time, as his committee prepares to stage its annual inter-district football tournament.

Fatou Jagne, marketing officer at Gamcel chaired the ceremony.
