Gamveg thief to serve community service to Kanifing Magistrate court

Three men, Sait Gaye, Mbemba Njie and Sedat Fofana, were last Monday brought before Magistrate Sagarr Jahateh of Kanifing Magistrate court, charged with store breaking and stealing.

According to the particulars of the offence, the three accused persons and one Demba Suso who is said to be at large, broke into the store of one Issam Bazzi and stole 40 gallons of 20 liters of oil, valued at D26,400, being the property of Gamveg Oil Company. When the charge sheet was read to them, the first accused, Sait Gaye pleaded guilty while the others pleaded not guilty. In her ruling, Magistrate Sagarr sentenced Sait Gaye to one year community service, meaning, he will serve as a security guard at Kanifing Magistrate court for one year, every Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm.

Sedat Fofana and Mbemba Njie, the second and third accused persons, were granted bail in the sum of D50,000 each, with one Gambian surety. The case was adjourned to March 2nd, 2009.  Police Prosecutor Inspector Touray stood for the IGP.
