Eighteen students and two teachers from Helsingore Little School in Denmark, on Monday, January 28 donated educational materials, sporting gear, home science materials, and medical items to Kuntaur Upper Basic and Lower Basic Schools as well as the Kuntaur Health Centre in the Niani District, CRR North.

The medical items worth over one hundred and eighty thousand dalasis were donated by their Danish friends.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the school grounds, Mr Kanimang Camara, the pioneer of the link said the presentation of educational materials to the schools has been an annual event since the link was established in 1987.  He called on the youths of the area to acquire skills as the school's wood and metal workshops are well equipped. He also pointed out that the Helsingore School in Denmark is sponsoring over one hundred students in Kuntaur.

Baboucarr Suwareh, regional director for region four, commended the Helsingore Little School and Gambian Danish friends for their laudable gesture. He further asserted that the donated materials will go a long way in improving quality education.

He also called on the community of Kuntaur to send their children to school as the enrolment in the two schools is very low.

For his part, Ebrima Jatta, Principal of Kuntaur Upper Basic School thanked the donors for their humanitarian assistance. He revealed that due to the intervention of Helsingore School in their technical departments, students performance on the technical subjects have greatly improved.

He assured the donors that the materials will be put to good use.

Other speakers at the ceremony included Mr Nygaard, a teacher from Helsingore School and Banna Sillah spoke on behalf of the Parent Teacher Association of the school.
