Ali Secka, a 44-year old resident of Kombo Lamin Village is in dire need of assistance to undergo tongue surgery in Hospital Aristide Le Dantec, Dakar Senegal.

Mr Kandeh, an employee of Gambia River Excursions has been suffering from a painful fungating 2-month old ulcer on his tongue since October 10, 2007.

According to the medical report, tongue movement was slightly restricted and there was conferious salivation.

"A clinical diagnosis of the carcinorima of the tongue was made and incisional bripsy done for histology. The histology report confirmed the clinical diagnosis," the medical report revealed.

The medical reports, therefore, recommended and referred the patient to undergo a combined session as soon as possible since radiotherapy facilities are not available here.

Speaking to Daily Observer, Ali Kandeh, a co-worker of the patient appealed for support from government departments, local NGOs, and philanthropists to assist the patient.

According to him, The Gambia River Excursion was previously footing his medical bill while he was undergoing treatment at RVTH.

"But as of now, the company has stopped that assistance due to financial constraints," he added.

Mr Kandeh was once admitted at the MRC in 2006, before being referred to RVTH.
