The Governor, Lower River Region, Momodou Soma Jobe on Wednesday presided over the swearing-in-ceremony of the newly elected councillors of Mansakonko Area Council in Soma.  In his keynote address, Governor Jobe reminded the elected councillors of their responsibilities.  He urged sworn-in councillors to redouble their efforts in improving the image of the council.  He also thanked the councillors for electing a woman as the Vice Chairperson of the council which according to him is in response to a global call for the promotion of gender equity in all national development endeavours.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, the newly elected chairman, Mansakonko Area Council, Mr Foday Camara assured that no stone will be left unturned and vowed that they will  deliver to the core.  Other speakers  at the ceremony included a lady councillor, Aja Fatou Njie Jarjusey, and youth representative Mr Balla Camara.
